As cliché as it may sound, you have to love yourself before anyone else can love you. You cannot find your love until you love you. You have to accept yourself for who you are. That doesn’t mean that there is no room for growth or change.
If you are too round and hate that about yourself, then go to a gym. Step away from the donuts. Decide what is more important the donut or a love life. If you hate your beer belly, then put that second pitcher down. Love life or a beer pitcher. You decide.
Having said that, the donuts or the beer pitcher is not what is keeping you from a love life. It is you and your perception of yourself.
Think about it. Are there are no overweight people in the whole world in love? Are there no 98 pound weaklings that have never had a date? If you have a big nose or a crooked tooth, chicken pox scar on your face or a blemish or scar, do you think that you should never leave the house again. If there should be a mole your face or neck or anywhere else, maybe you believe that you should join a leper colony, because no one will ever want you.
It’s ridiculous, isn’t it, how hard we are on ourselves. We all have imperfections. So what. Be the best person you can possibly be, for yourself. Respect yourself and love yourself first. That also means being happy with yourself and your life. No one is completely happy with all aspects of their lives, but there is something to be happy about, each and every day.
Everyday when you wake up, think about something that you like about yourself and your life. It doesn’t have to be something huge. Take pleasure in simple things of life, such as your dog or even the color of your living room. It can be anything. If you are happy, smiling and laughing, you send out a positive vibe that people will be attracted to and it makes them want to be around you.
You will not find love sitting at home on the phone with your friends. Unless, of course, the love of your life happens to be the UPS delivery person and you do a lot of mail order shopping. Dress up a little, wear brighter or at least more vibrant colors. Walk with your head up and a pleasant expression on your face.
This makes you look friendly and approachable. A real turn off is talking on your cell phone or continuously texting. When your nose is buried in your cell phone, you could be missing out on the world around you. No one is going to approach you or attempt making idle chit chat with you, if you are on the phone or head down texting furiously. You end up looking too preoccupied and busy to be interrupted.
Go into the world. Do something you like to do. If you have a dog, take him for long walks or to the local dog park. That is a ready made ice breaker. If you have a dog, you certainly don’t want to be with someone that doesn’t like dogs. Wear an interesting shirt or earrings something that can be commented on to open up a conversation.
To find your love, you must be open to it. Go out into the world and be happy. It won’t be long until you find your love and happiness.
